WHY DOES MY CHILD DO THIS?

Does your child limit the foods they will eat over a given period of time? Have you figured out why they do this?

~ Is there a physical impairment/medical reason that prevents a varied diet?

~ Is it food allergies or sensitivities?

~ Is it sensory related? How?

Have you ever considered the relationship of the limited preferences to:

~ the need for structure and routine

~ the need for visuals to support/enhance communication

~ the need for a predictability so they know what’s coming next

~ the need for a sense of control enabling independence

do you know why

What can you do to change this for your child and for your peace of mind that they are getting a nutritious diet that ensures they can meet daily demands that depend on good health?

For a child to be able to achieve their personal best in whatever they do: learning, playing, listening, attending to tasks, managing in an ever changing environment full of surprises, social interaction or even sleeping well they need to be healthy. Good health requires a healthy diet which can be a real stumbling block for many children and families.

What have you tried to help your child change this behavior?
